OMAM Ch 3 Plot Review
Students will look over their class notes from yesterday and share with another student.
Students will list the 5 most important events from the plot.
Teacher will share a few aloud and discuss briefly with students.
Class will view the images and quotes from Ch 3, to clarify understanding.
OMAM Ch 3 Literary Elements Review- Piece of the Pie Graphic Organizer
Have your 3x5 partner card out on your desk while you work.
With your partner, follow the directions to complete your Piece of the Pie Graphic Organizer. Write "OMAMCh 3" in the middle diamond shape and give the chapter your own title.
Internal and External Conflict: 1 example/quote of internal and 1 of externalwith page #'s (p. 44-45 Candy, p. 62-63 Lennie). Be sure to label each as internal and/or external and write a sentence to explain each conflict.
Indirect Characterization: 2 examples/quotes with page #'s, and identify which character the quote is about (p. 51, p. 53)
Foreshadowing: 2 examples/quotes with page #'s (p. 41-42, p. 53)
Themes:1 quote/example about "friendship" with page #'s (p. 39, 41), then write a theme sentence about the importance of friendship in your own words AND 1 quote/example about "dreams" with page #'s (p. 57-58), then write a theme sentence about the importance of having hopes and dreams in your own words.
Symbols: Identify 2 symbols from the story (hint, they are animals!) and describe in your own words what each one represents or stands for.
Vocabulary: Define and use "reverently" correctly in your own sentence.
Compare and Contrast: How are Candy and his old dog alike (compare)? How are Candy and his old dog different (contrast)?
Work with your partner to quickly identify examples of literary elements and terms!
